MAY THEME: Shapes, Shadows & Silverware
Thursday, April 28, 2022
This should be fun...oh yeah.
We will start with some drawing.....silverware -------- surprisingly tricky
and alluring and addictive!
I will teach a few photography ideas to make some really unusual shapes,
shadows and reflections.
Then we will do some value paintings to get a good LOOK at all those
fascinating reflective shapes and place them where they belong.
And of course Color and Composition will play a big role, don't they always?
This painting was created years ago and sits atop my
spice shelf. See that wonky iced tea spoon?
Sorry for glare.
Sorry for glare.
I am imagining that by weeks 3 & 4 we will be creating some interesting
Still Lifes that will have a spoon, fork or knife of some sort sneaking into
the storyline.
Use whatever medium you are most into at moment and mixing it up is always
welcome.....the only thing required in these classes is that you free yourself
up to experiment, and NOT compare yourself with any other artist -- the focus
has to be Painting Like YOU! Who else could you paint like, right?
Enjoying and admiring others artwork is fine, but always come back to painting
Like YOU. That's what I continually encourage.
Our 4 weeks of classes this month are as follows, then we will take off week
of Memorial Day weekend. But remember, the recordings are always there even if
you have to miss a non-vacation week. No worries!
I have been taking art classes from Joanie Springer for at least 5 years now. She creates a safe and fun space for teaching art. She is a self taught artist with tons of knowledge. She constantly shares new and different ideas on how to paint and plays with all different mediums with great enthusiasm and delight. She is very knowledgeable about techy "stuff" and is always willing to help us folks who are new at the tech world. I really can't say enough good things about Joanie. She is a willing, fun and creative teacher who clearly loves what she does. She's a gem! ~ Denise B
