Watch Me Sketch My Paint Brushes
Thursday, April 30, 2015
Very often when I feel like doing a quick sketch or painting, I have to look around my studio for some inspiration. And sometimes, as I’ve shared, that comes in a form of a photograph that I save in the cloud for such occasions. But the day I videotaped this sketch, I had a bunch of new (Utrecht Manglon) brushes, and that’s what inspired. I hope to express that one does NOT have to be exact, precise, tight to render a fun little sketch. Life’s too short not to make this FUN! NOTE: The blue vase in acrylic did not, unfortunately, get filmed, but you can see the paint is still wet as I draw ink into it. I used the kleenex container (blue with white dots) as my inspiration, and that is where i keep the brushes I use most in.
Also use Liquitex Heavy Body paints, white gesso, turquoise ink, bamboo pen, caran d’ache neocolor ii crayons. And I am drawing on Canson XL watercolor paper, 12 x 9 inches.
