I have finally gotten around, years later, to putting a SHOP back on my webite. It's been all about healing my hands so I can be on the computer more, but not too much. And teaching has been my main focus and joy for years now. My students and their blossoming talent continue to inspire me.

So thank you for visiting, and hope you enjoy the many art tips in my BLOG, and paintings in my SHOP and just feel blessed while you hang around awhile.

Watch Me Sketch My Paint Brushes

Thursday, April 30, 2015

Very often when I feel like doing a quick sketch or painting, I have to look around my studio for some inspiration. And sometimes, as I’ve shared, that comes in a form of a photograph that I save in the cloud for such occasions. But the day I videotaped this sketch, I had a bunch of new (Utrecht Manglon) brushes, and that’s what inspired. I hope to express that one does NOT have to be exact, precise, tight to render a fun little sketch. Life’s too short not to make this FUN! NOTE: The blue vase in acrylic did not, unfortunately, get filmed, but you can see the paint is still wet as I draw ink into it. I used the kleenex container (blue with white dots) as my inspiration, and that is where i keep the brushes I use most in.

Also use Liquitex Heavy Body paints, white gesso, turquoise ink, bamboo pen, caran d’ache neocolor ii crayons. And I am drawing on Canson XL watercolor paper, 12 x 9 inches.

Blessings and Paint On! ~Joanie
