Floral Inspirations
Friday, January 1, 2016
I taught my Floral Fun workshop last weekend to a wonderfully talented group of painters. The room was a bit crowded so that will be remedied for next class as I’ve been in discussion with Riley Street about a few improvements.
I had bought 4 bouquets from Trader Joe’s and a student brought a gorgeous display of blooms from her garden, so we were swimming in flowers. Then my daughter returned home from a retreat weekend with three more bouquets. Needless to say my house is full of flowers….and it’s a dream!
So, without having a plan to paint some florals, how could I possibly resist? These four paintings are based on ONE FLORAL turned a few inches and painted again.
I have so many other florals around the house…and on limited time, so I am taking pics of all of them in case I don’t get around to painting them before they drop and droop in graceful exit. How infinitely beautiful flowers are, I just love them. They inspire me. How about you? I am excited to have these 4 paintings 3/4 done….and now for my LOOKING and SEEING and LISTENING for what must be done to bring them each to a hopefully glorious completion.
Keep an eye out next week for the final versions of these paintings. Btw, these are all on 16 x 20 inch canvases, which I will eventually varnish and build natural wood strip frames for. Instant beauty – instant hanging. The “baby floral” at the bottom of the pics above is about 6 x 8 on a slab of wood
Blessings and Paint On! Joanie
