Some more Trees, Oil Pastels and Oct/Nov Theme
Thursday, October 1, 2026
Hello there, Artsies,
And yet another month has flown by....and we are edging into the end of another year! Hard to believe.
For our last two full months of this year Oct/Nov, our theme will be Painting Small.
Painting Small
- Each artist will choose what "small" is to them. Might be Artist Trading Card size, 5 x 7, 6 x 6 or even 12 x 12.
- What to paint on? paper, wood, cardboard, canvas......in other words, anything and everything!
- Why you ask? Painting small allows for more paintings and less supplies used. Fabulous way to really FOCUS on your subject, SEE more into it, and EXPRESS it.
- What medium? You choose!!! We have experimented all year with acrylic, gouache, ink, soft pastels, watercolor and of late, oil pastels, not to mention all the other mixed media we use at every turn. So you choose what you wish to play with.....
- When artists tell me, as I do my check-ins with each of them "I'm just experimenting, or I'm having fun, I'm just playing....." Well, thats a Gold Star in my book.
- Art is about Discovery.......not an end goal.
- Small paintings make wonderful holiday gifts or any time gifts. You will be building up a stash of original art to share with friends and loved ones, or sell at a holiday art fair.
There's room for you in our Zoom classes......
Do you have Monday mornings free, 10 to noon? Or how about Wednesdays 10am to noon (California time). Meet some lovely artists and learn some skills, try a new medium, get instruction and encouraging feedback.....painting on your own just isn't the same experience.
Try Us you might Like Us! 💖
Now here are some trees I painted this past month....as we tried out palette knife painting with acrylics and garnished with oil pastels. And then took oil pastels for a serious ride.....and built an oil pastel painting from the ground up. Now that was all new for me. I have used oil pastels as the cherry on top of many a painting over the years....but now I am all in. Ahhh, a new medium to dive into. Well, first.... here's a picture of my newly organized stash.
Ok, now for those trees
and just for fun
