What's next? Celebrating Hands!

Hands, oh me oh my ...

As most of you know, I introduce a new theme, or prompt every month or two.  Each of my students can always choose to work on their very own project as I am here to support and assist everyone best I can.

When I query my students and ask if they still want me to provide prompts . . . I always get a resounding yes. And thus it continues. Inspiration is there for any student who wants it. I never seem to run out of ideas to present, that's just my crazy mind. So it is never necessary to figure out what you want to paint next. I've got you covered.

So, here we go - for the next month or two we will be observing hands, drawing hands, painting hands, and creating a painting where a hand shows up somewhere on the canvas/paper. Hands can be one of those daunting subjects, but if you look carefully at the image above....you will soon see that for every artist there is a way to express hands. They are not at all perfectly rendered wrinkle and sinew a la Michelangelo.

Another benefit of sticking with a subject for a period of time is that it allows the artist to create a series. To roll over everything learned from one painting of a subject to one similar but different, the knowledge accrues naturally.

The reason I chose to call this theme Celebrating Hands is because if we take the slightest pause and consider how much we require of our hands, how much we do with them, how much they do for us -  the embraces we give, the hands we hold, the dear faces we touch, the very fur we pet., the food we prepare ... and the list goes on. It's an opportunity for us, as we draw and paint faces these next few weeks, to build up a knowledge base and practice Gratitude all at the same time.

You ready? Week one I will ease us into painting a hand....easy peasy. And fun too! Promise (wink).

Join us this coming week for a new session of Zoom classes. 1 class per week, 4 per month/$140 in the convenience of your own home studio whether that is the kitchen table or your own studio.

We will meet the first four weeks of March and likely take the 5th week off. That is, Mar 30 and Apr 1 will be vacation week.

Ready to join us?

There's plenty of creativity, inspiration and fun to go around.
