Let's start 2026 with Color Studies!
Friday, January 2, 2026
Hello folks,
and welcome to a New Year. May this one be full of blessings and joy even when we don't necesarily see it ahead. It's there, waiting to be discovered.
Kind of like Art, right? We come to our practice, a blanl canvas or sheet of paper....we don't know in advance what will happen in the process....but we proceed with a smidge of hope, and trust, and .....
there we have it. A new creation.
Every creation deserves to be celebrated....and not judged. Oue smallest or grandest of efforts don't rule the outcome...sometimes it's that delicious serendipidity that arises. That's what has me so plugged in to art. It's the surprise, the journey, the discovery.
How about you? Ready for another year of discovery?
Starting next week (Mon Jan 5 and Wed Jan 7) our new year begins, that's two Zoom morning classes, 10am to noon and an afternoon in-person class in Santa Rosa. That one is full for now, but to be on the wait list, join one of our Zoom classes and let me know you are interested in switching when an opening arises.)
STARTING 2026
So, we will be beginning our new year of art together with COLOR STUDIES.
That will include reviewing some mixing basics, high key and low key paintings, and some fun with the neutral colors too.
See you next week for a new year of Inspiration!
.....
Meanwhile I hope you all had a lovely and refreshing holiday....and here's a bit that I worked on.
It was so nice to have the contractors complete their 10 weeks of work on my house, and ended up with a beautiful all white kitchen, new counters and a small pantry built. Anyhoo, Christmas was fun with all the spiffy whiteness!
But my sketchbook, which was buried for weeks as my studio took on all the flotsam and jetsam of my kitchen, ahhhh....was I relieved to have my sketching corner back.
So these simple sketches were pencil, watercolor and gouache.....some collage for good measure. And even pastel chalk. I love to mix it up.....guess that's why they call is Mixed Media Artist!
Oh yeah, I managed to finish a French Roses rag quilt over the holidays, too! I feel so blessed to have not one, but TWO studios. A dedicated art studio and a room for a sewing studio, too.
Ready to join us?
There's plenty of creativity, inspiration and fun to go around.
