Starry Starry Nights....a DIY Cat Litter Hack

Sunday, October 30, 2022

Once upon a time, an 11 year old cat decided that she didn't want to do her "thing" in the litter box anymore. Ugh, mornings were a nightmare....look everywhere, careful.....watch your step!

So, i tried the very first thing you read on all the cat sites - that is, add yet another litter box. I didn't want to, I whined, I groaned, but I relented!  The third box ended up in my bedroom, triple yuch, but.....

I decided to cover it up with some art....one Home Depot box later and some paint, and a bit of Van Gogh inspiration.....tada! This ugly corner is about to be transformed.....wait for it!

I started with a coat of white gesso, followed by a coat of black gesso.....then....

Blossom peeking out....no, it wasn't her, she insists I tell you, it wasn't her!

Just gotta have a tablet for art making...the phone, at this age, is getting too small. Even though I have a great big phone.

Using up old tubes of paint.

Cats, well....my cats, don't like dark enclosed spaces for their privacy, so I always raise the roof and put "skylights" into it.

Drawing in a quick design with white charcoal pencil

The painting went surprisingly quickly....maybe a couple of hours? Time flew!

And there it is, in place. And I really don't mind it so much anymore.

As I am never one to waste anything artsy, I picked up the cut out stars and glued them to the side of the box that shows when i walk into my bedroom.

DIY HACK COST:
Three or so bucks for box. I should have saved one of my way too many Amazon boxes, then this would have been a zero cost project.
I had all the paints.
Thank you, Vincent!!!
