4 Paintings From a Single Inspiration
Thursday, March 27, 2014
At the Fabulous Faces workshop I taught at Riley Street, a wonderful woman, Joan, shared with me vintage photographs of some of her family members. There was another photograph that must have inspired me because before I knew it there were – count S E V E N – new portrait paintings on my table. There’s really no limit to where one’s imagination can go when you loosen up and let each painting lead to the next, rather than refer back to the original photo of inspiration. I try different colors on my palette, loosely use the angle of the face, change up the hair, the eyes focusing in different places, and of course, each has it’s unique expression.
Here’s what happened for me, and thanks again to Joan, for sharing this treasure of a photo.
