Goldilocks – original gouache & ink / paper, 7 x 5in., $50

Gold metallic gouache glimmers on this Goldilocks painting. And violet eyes…oooh. I painted the entire background shades of red to start….this is a recent experimentation of mine. Using gouache like oils and acrylics…..but gouache remains it’s own unique media. I’ve been reading about acrylic gouache….but for me that kind of defeats the purpose of the lifting quality of gouache. And my brushes stay nice and soft, with acrylic gouache I would have to be very careful not to leave any paint in my brushes.

I have to say that for all the time I’ve been in NY and using ONLY gouache and ink, I have really learned a lot about this medium. And love it more and more. When back in California, I want to work LARGER with it and see what happens. May be better for these smaller pieces, I’ll let you know. : )
