Attended a Centering Prayer retreat last weekend, and at one point we were asked to take a nature walk and come back with something that represented Wholeness to us…

Though i was looking for a fresh green leaf, none offered themselves on the ground (and I certainly wasn’t going to pick one off a tree!) so there was this very decayed leaf on the ground and it spoke to me of the wholeness that comes from dying to one’s false self. Thus it was my offering.

I haven’t sketched in my journal for quite some time….and this was fun.

As you can see, I’m not very good (nor inspired) by onsite sketching, but i keep going ‘cuz I love my art friends!  And I figure I won’t get better if I don’t practice at all.  A dear friend of mine, Milagros, as soon as we do our “homework” (sketching) we run off to the galleries in town.  Now THAT is inspiring!
