Sorry for going MIA on you all.  Most of you were aware, I believe, that I have been in NY taking care of my dad….who was suffering some health issues.  Well, my dear dad passed away last Fri Apr 13th, after three weeks in the hospital.  My only solace is that he no longer suffers and is reunited to my mom, his greatest love.  I’m still in NY packing up the house, arranging a moving truck to take my stuff back to Ca, awaiting legal stuff, etc.  I haven’t painted in over 2 weeks, probably 3.  But this little kitty, “Puss” makes me so homesick for my precious kitties at home in Ca – Blossom and FiFiona.  Oh, can’t wait to snuggle my babies.

This bird painting is more a drawing…..i just LOVE to draw and i LOVE to DRAW IN INK with a messy DIP PEN.  And then since i can’t resist color either….it gets that treatment last. Sometimes i just love the white of the paper to breathe….as the title?  Yes, it is emphatically MY Berries.  : )

I’ve been wanting to learn how to paint birds for quite some time.  So here come three of them, one a day. I used a bird book that my sister (librarian) brought me for inspiration and learning, then after sketching it out a bit, I change the pic all up before I paint – either using different colors, composition or painting style.

This first little guy is sassy all right!  It looks like he is defying the wind, to me.  What do you think?

Playing with different washes and full strength of my new Chinese ink.  Love that you can get such depth by using these layers and layers of washes.  I call this the Many and the Few II – a slightly smaller variation on yesterday’s post.

This painting is on rice paper that has been mounted and comes in a double mat (white outer/black inner) as seen below.

Here’s a little angel!  Don’t know how or where she got her earrings, but she does love them!  Must be the way they swing back and forth as she swirls along on her mission. I love her subtle colors and wistful look. Painted on rice paper, and then mounted.
