Take Care of Your Thumbs!

Ok, so by the time you are reading this I will be getting my thumb joint replaced due to Basal Thumb Arthritis. Please take care of your thumbs and avoid this!!

SUMMARY in layman's terms:

  • remove trapezium bone
  • use forearm tendon to tie together other bones in there somewhere
  • then wrap the rest of the tendon all up tightly
  • shove it in where bone was removed
  • and that becomes my new joint.

Oh joy, right?

Looks like I will be painting with my left hand for awhile.

Here's a link to the procedure:

Got a minute?  Say a little prayer for my speedy pain-free recovery! Thank you a HANDFUL!!! xoxoxo

For those medically-minded (or just love gore, ha ha) here's an actual video of the procedure (I have friends who love watching this stuff - not me!):

BTW - Rss messed up the last few posts...so be sure to read those too on my site. And I have prepped a number of posts to go out while I'm recuperating.

Blessings and Paint On!

Best of luck on your surgery! I have a similar condition (but no operation yet). How long do you expect recovery to take?

Good grief! Sending heartfelt good wishes for a painless and speedy recovery. If only you were still here at the Renaissance, I could be of some real help. Much love from both of us (Ruth and Wayne).
