I took a wonderful workshop on minimalism (the process, not the art historical period) this weekend by the talented artist and engaging teacher Janet Moore.  Visit her site here, she has a unique style of painting landscapes full of  dreamy colors  – they are just a wee bit otherwordly and absolutely lovely – so clean and pure.Thank you, Janet, for enough inspiration from Saturday’s class to keep me going awhile!

Here’s the second piece that I started on Saturday at the workshop: I came home and adjusted the colors (more muted), the composition (lowered horizon line so yellow sky peeks out below parasol),  added trees on the horizon to keep the eye in the picture plane, yet still kept her “otherworldly” as if she were floating down the path.  Maybe she is.

[The other two pieces I started there were transformed into something entirely different - Winter and Summer.....to be posted, stay tuned.] I NEVER throw out a painting, just work right on top of it til something turns out just right. : )
