Here you go, fellow artists, a new ART TIP from moi!
I tried the lavender before on my oil palette and found it counteracted the strong smell of the oil paints.
But here I tried it on the moist sponges to make it smell nice, only to find an additional bonus of the paints lasting really really long. Now anyone who uses acrylic paints knows that long-lasting miosiness is not common. I live in dry warm Northern California and I tell you two days is usually max, these paints have been in there over a week and a half or longer and still very usable and moist, not a skin forming over them. Wow! Who knows, it could just be the moist sponges i keep in there (dollar store – cut in half) but I do think the lavender is offering some effect, and at the very least it will cut down on mold as I believe one of its properties is anti-bacterial, anti-fungal.
I love cookie sheets, forget those masterson palettes, for me they are just annoying wrestling matches. But cookie sheets with lids, ah…just love them.
UPDATE: Unbelievable how long my acrylic paints are staying completely moist….like 2.5 weeks and counting. What a joy to come down to my art table in the morning, after days away (been busy exhibiting!) and sit right down and paint. Awesome. There’s something too this, I swear. : )
