My first 10″ x 10″. I’m finding that I really need to limit myself to a very few sizes. So I’m settling on 7″ and 10″ squares for the moment as a single 22″ x 30″ watercolor sheet can yield 12-7″ squares or 6-10″ squares.
I gesso them because I love the freedom the gesso base gives me, I can wipe off and redo just about anything on this surface. Additionally, gesso gives such a nice substance or weightiness to a 140lb watercolor sheet, too. FYI – I use cold pressed because I like the texture.
