Ohhh, this was fun. This is how it started…I was bored, inbetween paintings, and I glanced over and saw my babushka pin cushion leaning against some books, and AHA! I just held her in my hand and started sketching her form, then grabbed the little quilted pincushion, then to give it a bit of a composition (of which i know next to nothing, but am learning…) I held up a couple of threads.
What happened next was just fun and magical, until I absolutely blew the background to bits….so instead of throwing it out, my soul’s cry for redemption won out. I cut out what was salvageable, and brainstormed about placing it on pattern paper. Proceeded to paint all those little pins (at first I was thinking of just gluing beads on) only to realize the picture was a tad short of a std 10″ x 8″ mat, so I cut up the only tape measure in the house to add the length.
Ah, mistakes…..how much we learn from them.
