Faces Frenzy -Sumi and Sticks

Obviously not going for likeness here….just having flowing fun. NO pencil, just look quickly at the face, then draw. See what happens. Uniqueness. About 3 minutes each.

Sticks are from my backyard….just pointed the ends….and used sumi ink which i discovered is NOT waterproof so absolutely fantastic for these washy lines. I use a 1/2″ flat synthetic to play with the washes. The top two are inspired by Cate Blanchett on cover of VF and the one at top right is Josephine Baker in an ad inside VF. The bottom two are Modigliani inspired. LOVE Modi! He’s my Hero (not the dissolute life he led, but his ART!)

Here are my sticks….a variety of them all with slightly different points, calligraphic, etc…. Sumi ink which is FAB for this project since it washes all over the place, and that little votive holder makes a nice heavy enough container for a bit of watered down ink if you like. If you want just plain old free flowing fun, this is a great project. Sticks are about 6″ long and 1/2″ thick.
